Mold: A Homeowner’s Enemy
Even the cleanest home can have mold. Present in the air all the time are millions of spores from a kind of fungus. When the environmental conditions are quite right for these spores, they attach themselves to an accommodating surface where they rapidly build their colony. These colonies, which can be of any color such as blue, black, brown, green, red or orange, are what known as mold. A stale smell can be a signal that mold colony is present in an area.
Mold can be found on or even under surfaces such as walls, attics, floors, gutters, ductwork and ceiling. Mold can cause serious damage in a home’s walls, wood frames and flooring. If ignored, mold removal and mold-related repairs can become costly for the homeowner. In addition to this, mold can cause health conditions as simple as watery eyes to severe allergic reactions. It can also be a nightmare to a person suffering from asthma. Hence, when you see a spot of mold, it is important to clean the area immediately.
Acting within twenty four hours after seeing the spot of mold can prevent the colony from spreading and can be the difference between a simple cleaning task and a costly expense.
